Fresh Theatre Guide

Editorial policy

Fresh Theatre Guide aims to make theatre easier to notice and discuss. We explain our reasoning, check factual details before publication and make clear when a point is interpretation rather than settled fact.

Accuracy and context

We check names, titles, dates and other factual details against suitable source material before publication. Where information is uncertain or accounts differ, we say so rather than smoothing the disagreement away. We do not claim first-hand experience, research or access that we do not have, and we distinguish general explanation from an individual reading of a work.

Independence and partnerships

Editorial decisions are made for readers, not as a condition of a partnership. Any paid, gifted or otherwise supported material is identified clearly in the material itself. Partners do not receive control over unrelated coverage, and a commercial relationship is not presented as an editorial recommendation.

Corrections

If you spot a factual error or a misleading passage, contact us through the Contact page and point to the relevant wording. We review correction requests and, when a change is warranted, amend the article with a clear correction note where appropriate. We aim to preserve a useful record of what changed instead of silently changing the meaning.

Images and illustrations

Images are chosen to support the subject and are not evidence that a depicted production or event took place. Some illustrations may be AI-generated; those illustrations are identified as such. We do not use a generated image to imply that it documents a real performance.

Our point of view

A play is never only the words

Theatre is made in the meeting of text, performers, space and audience. Notice those connections and familiar scenes start to open up.
